Dr. Chirasree Banerjee was born in Darbhanga, Bihar. She is an expatriate Bengali and the granddaughter of writer Shri Bibhutibhushan Mukherjee. On her maternal side, she is the great-granddaughter of Shri Sarat Chandra Chakraborty, a disciple of Swami Vivekananda.

She graduated from Visva-Bharati, securing First Class First position, and completed her postgraduate studies thereafter. She received her Doctorate from Calcutta University.

Her writings are regularly published in several well-established Bengali and English newspapers. She has authored 23 books in Bengali and one in English. She is frequently invited to deliver lectures on Ramakrishna-Vivekananda literature and other subjects at renowned institutions.
